Art Therapy is conducted by a trained art therapist, utilizing a variety of art materials and directives. Art Therapists are at least master-level clinicians who are trained to provide support for their clients.
I have seen & felt the healing powers of art.
It starts with a mark.
Throughout my career and explorative journey, I have seen & felt the impact of the power that art can do. I facilitated many art therapy groups and sessions to have the honor in witnessing vulnerability, creativity, and valuable processes. I have also been a participant in my own art therapy, being able to firsthand experience this process; along with practicing art making daily.
My hope is for you to be able to experience the wonders & power art therapy has to offer. Let’s take a deep dive in your creativity and see what unfolds.

What happens during an art therapy session?
During an art therapy session, clients use creative expression as a way to explore emotions, process experiences, and foster personal growth. Virtually, you are free to use art materials that you have in your home. In-person, I have a variety of art materials to select from. I may also invite you at times to use a certain material depending on the process.
Art therapy sessions can be virtually (NJ or FL residents) or in-person. I typically will check in at the start of each session. There is no added cost with engaging in art therapy vs talk therapy. We can also mix the two!
I am able to offer an art therapy directive during a session (more of a guided experience) or this can be a directive-free art therapy session (no guides from me, & more of going with the energy & what’s needed). No art experience is necessary!
Each session is individualized to the client’s needs, making art therapy a flexible and powerful tool for self-expression, healing, and personal growth.
After the art making, we will discuss the process and the artwork. This may involve exploring emotions, themes, or patterns that arise, and checking in with how it felt while the process was occurring. We are not here to ridicule the art, nor work on “bettering” an artistic technique.
Therapy offers a way to gain clarity, find balance, and move forward with confidence.

It all begins with an inquiry about treatment! This is the first step to the treatment process. We can connect via email and if wanting to continue, we can schedule a brief consultation.
If one or both of us decide it’s not a good fit, that is okay! There are other resources available that may be more beneficial to your needs.

Participate in sessions
Clients are encouraged to participate in sessions with honesty & willingness. Sessions typically start once a week to best support the therapeutic relationship & goals. Sessions are 45 minutes where we will explore through art, and process thoughts & feelings. Attendance is important in making goals a priority for overall wellness.
I incorporate my skills as an art therapist & counselor in these sessions to best support client needs.

Follow through with goals
It doesn’t stop when you leave the office space. For continual growth, implementation of skills and resources is crucial outside of treatment!
Outside of sessions, I encourage clients to utilize techniques and resources discussed in sessions. This may include, but is not limited to: creating sketchbook entries, journaling, incorporating healthy communication styles, physical wellness activities, time management tasks, etc.
Practice means progress. Let’s keep working on these goals for a healthier and happier living.
